Keith joined the Hornets in February ’97 for a month, playing in 6 games and scoring 2. He now lives in High Wycombe, Bucks with wife Tina and children Jordan, 13 and Mason, 8.
Hi Keith, thanks for speaking to Watford legends. You came to play at the home of football for a month. How was that?
I had a really good month at Watford with Kenny Jackett, and was there on loan with a view to signing. But then I spoke with Mike Walker - my manager at Norwich – who said that the funds weren’t available and I would need to come back to Carrow Road.
You had a number of clubs. Which club did you enjoy playing for the most?
I enjoyed my time at Norwich, it’s a friendly place, Wycombe was great as it gave me the springboard to a football career, and obviously having a year in the Premiership with Swindon was a good time.
Where are you now?
I am a Business Development Manager for a refit and refurbishment company in High Wycombe, and I am the Manager of Windsor and Eton FC in the Southern League.
What was it like leaving football to go to a full time job?
It was okay for me because when I was playing, I always knew that I would have to work after football. What I was earning in the Premier League and First Division then, players in the Conference are earning now.
I have completed all my badges – I’m an A licence coach. However, I did not find a role in the full time game so I went in to the non-leagues. I came in to football through the non leagues, and I will do the same again with management.
Thanks for speaking with us Keith, and good luck for the season.
Cheers. Thank you.
